The Formation Process Of Natural Quartzite
Jan 16, 2026
Initial stage: Quartz sand is deposited in shallow seas, accumulating in layers like a multi-layered cake.
Transformation stage: Tectonic movements bury it 3-5 kilometers underground, subjecting it to temperatures above 300°C.
Crystallization stage: The edges of the quartz grains begin to melt and recrystallize, forming a serrated, interlocking structure.
Ideal form: If buried even deeper, it may further transform into a denser siliceous rock.
