Description
Dark Grey Marble with a Fine Network of Natural Veins
Dark marble can easily become visually heavy when the background is too flat or the veining is too bold. Starry Grey Marble achieves a different balance. Its deep charcoal-grey base is crossed by fine white and light-grey mineral lines that branch irregularly across the slab, creating movement without breaking the dark background into large contrasting areas.
The full slab shows both quieter zones and areas where the veins become denser. Under a polished finish, these fine lines stand out more clearly against the darker base, giving the stone a layered appearance that changes with viewing distance and lighting.
It is particularly suitable for interiors where a dark natural stone is needed to establish contrast, depth and architectural definition.

Use Dark Stone to Define an Area
A dark marble does not necessarily need to cover an entire room.
In many interiors, it works more effectively when used to define a particular architectural zone: a reception background, lift surround, fireplace wall, bathroom vanity area or selected section of flooring.
Against white or cream walls, the contrast becomes sharper. With walnut or other dark timber, the transition is softer and more layered. Bronze and brushed metal can introduce warmth, while black metal allows the stone to become part of a more monochromatic composition.
This gives designers several ways to use the same material without changing the stone itself.
The Veining Changes with the Cutting Area
The fine mineral lines are naturally irregular rather than mechanically repeated.
One part of a slab may contain several intersecting veins, while another section can be considerably quieter. This becomes important when the slab is divided into smaller components.
A vanity top cut from a dense section will appear more expressive than one taken from a quieter area. The same applies to wall panels and furniture surfaces.
For custom projects using Starry Grey Marble, the cutting position can therefore be reviewed together with the component drawings when the appearance of individual pieces is important.
A Natural Choice for Contrast
Light beige and grey stones are often used to create continuity. Dark marble can perform the opposite role.
A charcoal stone can establish boundaries between different functions within an interior without adding another colour. For example, a light stone floor can continue through a lobby while darker marble identifies the reception area or lift core.
The fine pale veins then provide enough connection to lighter surrounding materials so that the transition does not feel completely isolated.
This makes the stone useful not only as a decorative surface, but also as a tool for organizing the visual hierarchy of an interior.
Full Slabs and Smaller Components Behave Differently
On a large wall panel, the branching vein network can be read as one continuous composition. This is where the relationship between quieter and denser sections becomes most visible.
Smaller pieces produce a different effect.
For coffee tables, side tables, vanity tops or shelves, only a selected portion of the natural pattern is visible. A carefully positioned cut can therefore give a relatively small component considerable character.
When one project contains both large panels and smaller pieces, slab allocation can be planned before cutting so that the most suitable areas are assigned to each application.
Polished or Honed
The polished surface shown in the photograph creates strong visual depth. Light reflects from the dark background while the pale veins remain clearly defined.
Honing reduces this reflection and makes the overall grey tone feel softer. The vein network remains visible but becomes less graphic, which can suit quieter contemporary interiors.
For vertical decorative surfaces, polished material can emphasize contrast and depth. For other applications, a honed finish may be preferred depending on the design and technical requirements.
Finish samples can be prepared when a project needs to compare both options.

Fabrication Beyond Standard Slabs
Full slab supply is available, but project orders can also be fabricated according to CAD drawings, dimensions or cutting schedules.
Typical components include:
large wall panels
floor tiles
fireplace surrounds
vanity tops
reception desk panels
stair components
shelves and ledges
stone furniture tops
For mitred components, edge details and finished dimensions should be confirmed before fabrication. Openings, cut-outs and other processing can also be reviewed from the project drawings.
Selecting Dark Marble by Batch
Dark stones deserve particular attention during slab selection because differences in background depth can become noticeable when adjoining pieces are installed together.
For project quantities, available slabs can be reviewed for overall colour, vein density and visible characteristics before fabrication.
Where several pieces will form one continuous area, slabs with a more compatible appearance can be allocated together where stock allows. Current slab photos can also be shared for approval when required.
After fabrication, finished pieces can be identified according to drawings or installation areas and protected in reinforced wooden crates for export.
FAQ
1. Is Starry Grey Marble black or grey?
It is primarily a dark charcoal-grey marble. Under different lighting conditions, some areas may appear close to black, while the fine white and grey veins create contrast across the surface.
2. Are the white veins consistent on every slab?
No. Their direction, density and distribution vary naturally. Some areas can have a stronger vein network while others are quieter, so actual slab selection is recommended for visually sensitive projects.
3. Can you select specific areas of a slab for furniture or vanity tops?
Yes. For custom fabrication, drawings can be considered together with the selected slab so important components can be positioned on suitable areas before cutting.
4. Can this marble be fabricated with mitred edges?
Yes. Mitred edges and other custom edge processing can be produced according to the component design, thickness and fabrication requirements.
5. Can you supply consecutive slabs for large wall projects?
This depends on current stock. If a project requires adjoining or visually coordinated slabs, we can check the available batch and provide slab photos before production.
